Happy Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti 2016: 2 October 2016 Mahatma Gandhi’s 147th birth anniversary. Gandhi Jayanti is a national festival celebrated in India to mark the occasion of the birthday of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, the “Father of the Nation”. Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was the preeminent leader of the Indian independence movement in British-ruled India.
About Mahatma Gandhi
Mohan Das Karam Chand Gandhi was the full name of Mahatma Gandhi and he was born in 1869 in Hindu merchant caste family of Gujarat. His father, named Karamchand Gandhi and His mother’s name was Putlibai. At the age of 13, he got married with “Kastoorba Gandhi”. On 30 January 1948 Mahatma Gandhi was assassinated by a Hindu Nationalist Nathu Ram Godse. He fired three bullets on chest of Bapu from a close range and spread the sorrow and darkness all across the country.
